About the Founders
Ms. Hurley-Wales is a co-founder of From the Top and shares the roles of Chief Executive Officer and Executive Producer with Gerald Slavet. Ms. Hurley-Wales spent 17 years in arts management prior to the founding of From the Top. In her decade at the New England Conservatory of Music, she was a senior development officer for the $34 million Capital Campaign, and subsequently served as the interim Director of External Affairs and Special Projects Director, identifying collaborations and strategic partnerships for the Conservatory. Ms. Hurley-Wales holds a B.A. from Denison University and serves on the board of directors for The Jericho Road Project.
Mr. Slavet is the co-founder of From the Top and shares the roles of Chief Executive Officer and Executive Producer with Jennifer Hurley-Wales. Mr. Slavet, after a successful business career, has focused his energies on children in music. His production credits include radio and television versions of "A Taste of Passover" and "A Taste of Chanukah," both starring Theodore Bikel and distributed nationally on public radio and public television. He coordinated all aspects of the international tours for New England Conservatory's Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Slavet is a Trustee of New England Conservatory and is past member of the Board of Directors of the American Symphony Orchestra League and the National Foundation for Jewish Culture. Mr. Slavet holds a B.A. from Bowdoin College and a M.F.A. from Catholic University.
