Ming Wilson Supports his Local Church through Performance
13-year-old pianist Ming Wilson gave a solo recital promoting the worldwide efforts of his hometown church.
What: a piano recital benefitting Christian missions abroad supported by the Central Baptist Church (CBC) of Johnson City, TN.
When: March 2010
How: Ming’s original goal had been to raise $1,000, when in fact he raised almost $1,200 from the event. All proceeds went towards worldwide Christian missions supported by the CBC. Ming spoke with his church music minister to discuss possible dates and times for the performance. With the help of the CBC and his family, Ming was able to build both an audience and program for the recital. The CBC also recorded the entire performance, and created DVDs to sell for $5; all proceeds from the recordings continue to support the CBC’s worldwide efforts.
“The church has helped me to explore music in numerous ways, by providing me with many resources, and giving me many opportunities to perform. I would like to repay at least some of their generosity by helping those who are less fortunate around the world to at least come to know God.” – Ming
