Nora Scheller Plays to Support a Community “Gem” in North Mankato, MN
Violinist Nora Scheller wanted to show her support for the efforts and achievements of her community’s Suzuki School branch.
What: a benefit recital for the Mankato Suzuki School that took place at Bjorling Recital Hall of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN – Nora was joined by her violin teacher Peter McGuire on the program.
When: April 3, 2011
How: Nora organized most of the benefit recital by herself, but was supported by the efforts of her school teacher Ms. Kotasek, her violin teacher Peter McGuire, and her mother. Nora ended up raising $1,020 for the Suzuki School! Proceeds from the recital will go towards upgrading the Suzuki School’s rental instruments, and purchasing new music for the ensemble program.
“The goal of this performance was to raise more awareness and support for the Mankato Suzuki School of Music. It’s always been a gem in our area, a place for students who love music to explore their creativity through music, and just have fun!
It (was) one of those rare occasions where you honestly feel absolutely united with every single person around you. You’re all there for the same reason: to support a wonderful non-profit organization, and that makes you feel connected to every single person in that room. I think that we really did something that day, to help the sense of community at the Suzuki School, and I think that the audience members could feel that.”
