Sherry Tang Shares a “Selfless” Passion with Elderly Residents of Los Angeles
12-year old pianist and Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Sherry Tang wanted to demonstrate music’s ability to connect generations for the elderly of West Hollywood.
What: a small concert series for the residents of Beverly Hills Carmel Retirement Hotel in West Hollywood, CA.
When: December 2010
How: Sherry was joined by friends Kelly Liu and Aaron Ma on a program consisting of a variety of works for cello and piano. Sherry had contacted the retirement center’s activity director to arrange a date for the performance, then designed a program that would best suit their audience.
“I want to share music with the elderly at rest homes because I want them to enjoy the music we bring. I want them to realize that music is all the generations coming together.”
