Show 012 | Spokane, Washington

Recorded: Saturday, January 29, 2000

From the Top travels to Spokane, Washington's Metropolitan Performing Arts Center to bring together some of the greatest young talent from the Pacific Northwest. We hear a performance of Haydn's Concerto in C Major performed by an astonishing 14-year-old cellist from rural Oregon and meet a 16-year-old violinist who can't wait for his parents to leave the house so he can blare Shostakovich as loud as it will go on the stereo. And Washington State Senator Slade Gorton makes a special appearance to share his childhood stories about music.
