Meet Emily

EMILY CHEN is a 17-year-old violinist from Needham, MA. She is currently a senior at The Winsor School in Boston. She has played the violin since the age of 3, and currently studies with Fudeko Takahashi. She began her studies with Anna Korsunsky and Lucia Lin. Emily has played in the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra under the direction of Benjamin Zander since its inception in 2012. She has toured with the orchestra throughout Europe, including the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain. Emily has continued to foster her love of chamber music each summer at the Greenwood Senior Music Camp, and sings in the Winsor Small Chorus. In addition to music, Emily enjoys rowing as a coxswain, swimming, yoga, and biking. She is excited to share her love of music with the wider community through the From the Top Art’s Leadership Program and hopes to help others acquire a greater appreciation for classical music.
