Alexander “Sasha” Yakub (18), violin, is from Amherst, Massachusetts, where he is a senior at Amherst Regional High School (ARHS), and studies with Giovina Sessions. Coming from a family of professional musicians, Alexander has been playing the violin since age 4. He performs with several ensembles in New England such as the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the AHRS Symphonic Orchestra, and Duo 404 (which includes fellow From the Top alum Forrest Eimold). He has also attended several music camps and won competitions all over the country. He plays on an Andranik Gaybaryan violin. Outside of music, Alexander enjoys studying languages and foraging for edible wild mushrooms.
