Education & Outreach

Empowering young musicians to inspire and engage music lovers of all ages.

FTT-3

Through our national platform and Boston-based programs, we are at the forefront of a movement to expand and enrich how young people – and those who support them – define what it means to be a 21st century musician.

We mentor and support our musicians as they plan for a future in the arts. Whether they envision themselves as ambassadors for their instrument, teachers, arts advocates, or at the forefront of applying the latest technology to the performance experience, we train them to take their music beyond the concert hall.

Every musician who appears on From the Top with Host Christopher O’Riley receives focused leadership training, exploring the communication and collaborative skills that can expand and engage future audiences. They then apply this training by creating and presenting customized outreach activities in every community we visit, bringing the excitement and beauty of classical music to more of a community’s citizens, with a particular focus on children and youth.

In our hometown of Boston, we mentor up to 50 young musicians each year in the Center for Development of Arts Leaders (CDAL). CDAL is the the first center of its kind focused on developing and training Greater Boston’s young musicians as leaders, working with educational and service organizations in performing, teaching, and advocacy roles, expanding the power of music to make a difference.
