The RiverCenter for Performing Arts in Columbus, Georgia, is the stage for this week’s edition of From the Top. You’ll hear a string quartet from the Chicago area playing Shostakovich, a local teenage bassoonist playing Telemann, and an exceptionally young pianist from Minnesota playing Haydn.

Clarinetist Conor Brown, 17, from Boulder, CO, performs the Premiere Rhapsody by Claude Debussy

Pianist Megan Ruan, 10 from Arden Hills, MN, performs the Sonata in D major, I. Allegro by Franz Joseph Haydn

Bassoonist Mary House, 17, from Midland, GA, performs the Sonata in F minor, IV. Vivace, by George Philipp Telemann

Harpist Kerry Watson, 17 from Marietta, GA, performs “Contemplation” by Henriette Renié

The BAM String Quartet (violinist and Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Rachel Goldberg, 14, form Palatine, IL; violinist Herah Kim, 13 from Glenview, IL; violist Sean Yeh, 13,from Libertyville, IL; and cellist Gabriel Cabezas, 12, from Wilmette, IL) perform the String Quartet No.8 in C minor, Op.110, II. Allegro molto by Dmitri Shostakovich
