From the Southern Theatre in Columbus, Ohio, this week’s line-up of outstanding young musicians includes a 17-year-old violinist from Columbus playing the famous Khachaturian Sabre Dance and a 14-year-old cellist from Cincinnati playing Chopin’s Polonaise Brillante. Also, the last quarter of From the Top is pre-empted by a new game show — Quartet Feud!

Performers and repertoire:

Violinist Siwoo Kim, 17, from Westerville, OH playing Khachuaturian’s “Sabre Dance.”

Pianist Stephanie Chan, 18, from Houston, TX playing Prokovfiev’s Sonata No. 6 in A major

Cellist Coleman Itzkoff 13, from Cincinnati, OH playing Chopin’s Polonaise brillante in C major, Op. 3

Seraphina Quartet from Philadelphia ara playing the second movement of Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8 in C minor, Op. 110. The quartet is composed of violinists Caeli Smith, 15 and Sabrina Tabby, 16; violist Madeline Smith, 17; and cellist Genevieve Tabby, 16.

Opus Quartet, performing from Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 9 in C major, Op. 59, No. 3. The quartet, all from the Columbus area, is: 18 year-old violinists Jeffrey Myers from Columbus, and James Rubino from Worthington; violist Reuben Payne, 17, from Delaware; and cellist Matthew Kufchak, 18, from Westerville.
