Education and Community Engagement
A fundamental part of From the Top’s mission is the belief that young musicians have the power to create positive change in their communities. The Center for Development of Arts Leaders, From the Top’s arts education and community engagement program, mentors and supports our musicians as they plan for a future in the arts. Whether they envision themselves as ambassadors for their instrument, teachers, arts advocates, or at the forefront of applying the latest technology to the performance experience, we train them to take their music beyond the concert hall.
- Arts Leadership on the RoadEvery musician who appears on NPR's From the Top receives focused leadership training, exploring the communication and collaborative skills that can expand and engage future audiences. They then apply this training by creating and presenting customized outreach activities in every community we visit, bringing the excitement and beauty of classical music to more of a community’s citizens, with a particular focus on children and youth.
- The From the Top Arts Leadership GrantThe 2018 application window is closed. Later in the year, we will be seeking applications from From the Top alumni with a desire to make their communities better through music.
