Meet Fernando

FERNANDO LOPEZ is a senior at Walnut Hill School for the Arts. He studies piano with Angel Ramon Rivera and composition with Rodney Lister through the New England Conservatory Preparatory School. He was a finalist in the 2015 and 2016 Rivera Piano Competitions at the Rivers Conservatory, and won Second Place in the 2016 Steinway Society of Massachusetts Piano Competition. He frequently appears at NEC recitals as soloist and with chamber ensembles, and at the Contemporary Music Festival

Fernando participated in the 2014 NEC Prep Piano Department European Tour to Vienna and Budapest, and he has also studied at the Brevard Music Festival and Boston University Tanglewood Institute. Fernando plans to pursue degrees in piano performance and composition and will work towards one day becoming an orchestral conductor. In addition to his music studies, Fernando is an avid runner, snowboarder, and has a Black Belt in Taekwondo.
