Levi Powe (cello), 19, lives in Tucson, Arizona where he studies cello and music composition with Dr. Theodore Buchholz. He is a sophomore at the University of Arizona, studying business. He has won first place in the Tucson Symphony Concerto Competition, and the Civic Orchestra Concerto Competition and was a Finalist in the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Competition. Levi was selected as the 2018 First Place Junior Division Laureate of the Sphinx Competition. He has performed with New World Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, South Bend Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Tucson, the Tucson Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, and The Sphinx Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, he was a participant of Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra 2 in its inaugural season. Levi is a black belt in karate, likes to read, and enjoys fishing, hunting, cubing, and photography.
