Meet Melissa

MELISSA CHENG is a senior at Boston University studying flute performance with Renee Krimsier. Before coming to Boston University, she studied at the Juilliard Pre-College with Dr. Bradley Garner. She has won several competitions including third prize in the 2010 Long Island Philharmonic Young Artist’s Competition and first prize in the 2013 New York Flute Club Young Musician’s Contest. She was a finalist in the 2013 National Flute Association High School Soloist’s Competition and in August 2013 was awarded the Frances Blaisdell National Flute Association Convention Scholarship. She has played in several orchestras and ensembles, including Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, Boston University Wind Ensemble, Boston University Symphony Orchestra, and Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. In the fall of 2015, she studied abroad at the Royal College of Music with Susan Milan. This past summer she attended Brevard Music Center and studied with Marianne Gedigian, Dilshad Posnock, and Renee Krimsier.
