Taiga Ultan (flute), 16, is from Brooklyn, New York, and is currently living in Michigan as a student at Interlochen Arts Academy where she studies with Nancy Stagnitta. Taiga is a recipient of the From the Top’s Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. She and her sister, also a student at Interlochen Arts Academy, have created the Mu Trio with flute, cello, and piano, dedicated to the performance of new music. Taiga was a winner at the Kaufman Center’s Merkin Concert Hall Concerto Competition. She has also been a teaching artist with the New York Philharmonic Very Young Composers program. In addition to playing the flute, Taiga enjoys studying classical ballet and contemporary dance. She also enjoys writing and drawing.
